A pleasant surprise awaited us on our first night on the Island. While taking the scenic Route 19A north, we chanced upon the Colaland Diner in Qualicum Beach. The diner, recently purchased by Detlef and Petra Friede, featured authentic diner food and as bonus three neat cabins in back. The prices are very reasonable.
