Earth Day 1999

On Saturday, April 24th, eleven Old Orchard students, one teacher, one parent, and one District 68 bus driver attended an Earth Day project at the Garfield Park Conservatory. Garfield Park Conservatory is one of the oldest and largest conservatories in the nation.

Our task was to pull weeds and clean up one of the behind-the-scenes areas
of the conservatory. It gave students a new appreciation for all the work it takes to keep the conservatory in operation. Students also got to feed the Koi and goldfish in one of the ponds.

After we completed our project, we were treated to a great lunch and attented an Earth Day Fair outside the Conservatory.

We had a great time!

Old Orchard thanks Heidi Hickman for inviting us to attend this event! We hope come back in April 2000.
