Warm Fuzzy Day at OOJH ........Fuzzy Group
Bunch of Warm Fuzzies
Bunch of Fuzzies

Every year, in preparation for Snowflake, students gather at school on a Saturday afternoon to make "warm fuzzies." The warm fuzzy is an important symbol of Snowflake and every participant and leader has one. That means we had to make over 400 fuzzies.

After the first year of Snowflake, Mr. Olson conceived a way to mass produce fuzzies and the process is repeated each year. Above, Mr. Postle, reveals the mystery of fuzzy making.

Fuzzies are made by wrapping two skenes of yarn around a board that is 16" long.

Eight necklaces are then cut. The next process has been, until now, a secret. Necklaces are attached to the yarn with cable ties. The cable ties are spaced exactly 4" apart on each side of the board.

Thanks to all OOJH and Niles North students who gave up a precious Saturday afternoon to complete this project!

The next step is to cut the yarn at 4" intevals, exactly between the cable ties. The result is eight warm fuzzies.

The final steps are trimming and inspection.
If you would like to make fuzzies, contact Mr. Olson for a more detailed description.
Note: To make fuzzies this way you will need a large supply of excellent scissors, pliars, wire cutters, and 11" cable ties. You will also have to fabricate a number of boards that are 4"x16"x 1/4".
